Topic from chapter 1

In chapter one of Metzlers Instructional Models for Physical Education, explains that boys and girls are now taking interest in one or more forms of dance, exercise, sport, and other games. Metzler goes on and explains the importance of the physical educator to continue to learn new content knowledge that will help spark the interest of all students. I believe that Metzler is right on the money with his statements. Today many students are now into new and exciting ways to exercise. For example outdoor adventure content like backpacking, ropes courses, and snowshoeing are just a few new activities that PE teachers must continue to learn how to teach. These new and exciting activities are and will continue to help increase student enjoyment and participation in regular physical activity. That's why I believe that it is crucial for every PE teacher to keep learning new and exciting content knowledge.

  1. Hi Tom,

I totally agree with you that teachers must be coninue to "upgrade" and embrace the 21st century - we can no longer teach (or learn) in the same way - because - things are not going to return to the way they were - history does repeat itself - but usually in a more new and exciting way - so we need to show that same excitement in the way we teach and the content that represents our curriculm!
